We returned to the delta again for a refit, and had what to me was one of the most moving experiences of my time with 4th. C.L.Y.
We were drawn up in an amphitheatre on the outskirts of Cairo, and the nominal role for the whole unit was called;comrades were questioned about missing men, to confirm if possible whether they were killed, wounded or missing,- a very sad occasion.
