My first memory is of seeing a plane on fire flying near Carlton le Moorland towards, maybe, Waddington. I don't know whether it was an enemy plane or not. I think it was about 1944, I was 4/5 years old.
I can remember the Italian POWs who worked on the farm under the guidance of my Father. They used to make dolls furniture out of grass for me.
A bomb fell in a field near the house and I don't thgink it exploded because my father brought it into the house to examine under the paraffin lamp.
