This is Amy Patterson of Southmoor Community School, Sunderland entering Margaret Morran's story onto the website and they fully understand the website terms and conditions of use.

When the war started I was two years old. I was bombed out of two houses during the war. During the war I lived in a place called Bonnersfield, next to the shipyards and so my home was bombed. My friend and I were playing outside. His mam called us in for some jam and bread, which was a luxury! It was a day-light raid. A bomb fell in the back lane and every thing in the kitchen went from one side to the other. My mam was in the washhouse when it collapsed. There was a little picture hall next door call the Bromarsh. It was bombed, and there was lots killed in the panic too. We then moved to Billham Place and we were bombed out of there. My dad was killed and so we moved in with my gran behind the pit, as my mam had to work. When the war ended I was eight years old.
