I was working at the food office in New Romney in Kent and in the evening I went mushrooming. I love mushrooms and after a while the Doodle Bugs arrived with flames coming from the rear of the bugs. I hear a roar and I knew that if the noise stopped they would drop like a bomb so I took cover under a wooden bridge. I thought it was time to go home when all was quiet and the bugs had gone to work in Ashford. The next night I thought I’d go again and to my horror the bridge I had sheltered under had received a direct hit!!!!!! What a lucky escape. I collected the mushrooms and went home very shaken. A few nights later I went mushrooming again and I was concerned to see about 20 army tanks turn into my lane and I thought surely they wouldn’t go in my field but then they did and all I could think of was what a lovely breakfast they would have in the morning.
