This is just a short thank you on behalf of my brother and I and our respective families, to say thank you to the older generations of our family and others for being here.
My dad would have loved to have been part of the celebrations but sadly left us just before Christmas in 2004.
He told us many amazing stories of when he was a despatch rider in Italy and South Africa. Both my grandfathers served in other ways, one was in the Scotts Greys, the other defused munitions in Brambley and received the OBE. Both are no longer with us but I still remeber some of the stories they told my brother and I when we were children. I'm sure my brother will agree that we are proud of them all, miss them dearly and know they will never be forgotten.
My mother was serving in the Hilton hotel when it was bombed, she told me the hotel was split in half!!! She narrowly escaped death and often recalls the things she witnessed that day.
She misses my father greatly.
''United we stand'' ''devided we fall''
United then and united now, God bless all who stood together 'then' to fight tyrany and injustice and those that stand together 'now' for the same reason.
