This story was submitted to the People's War site by CSV/ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Nottingham on behalf of Janette Haigh with her permission. The author fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

There was a family of parents and children who were evacuated from London to Noel Street. They'd been living in the neighbourhood for some months and then went home for the weekend to London. They never returned. It was assumed they were bombed because they left behind all their possessions. I can remember people around me crying.
