I would be about 4 or 5 when I remember going to Bursley Grange Farm in Newtown (the farm was an old abbey). A team of local chaps were busy picking up doodlebugs in jute corn bags. I don't know what happened to them afterwards but the story was that a plane had dumped its load in the field and flown on. It would have been around 1943/44.
