Ada and John at Hayes Court summer 2003

During the evacuation of children from London, my mother in law (Ada Newton), who lived in New Zealand Cottages, Exchange Road, Sunning hill , Ascot, took in a little boy whose name was John Evans. His sister was placed elsewhere in the village. He stayed for several years and became part of the family. My brother in law was born in 1943, and my wife not until 1948. The remarkable thing about this relationship is that even though John emigrated to New Zealand (note name of house) they are still in constant touch via Email (to me), telephone to us both, and to my mother in law's sister in the states. He visited my mother in law and family several times, the last being in the summer last year when he came to visit her in her nursing home twice during his visit 'home'. She is now 94, but never forgets her 'Little Boy From London' and the love flows both ways. He is another member of the family. The picture was taken during last year's visit.
Regretfully, Ada died st her nursing home on Wednesday, August 4th aged 94.
