I only have a little memory towards the beginning of the war when they first issued the gas masks. My brother, who would only have been about two at the time, got a Mickey Mouse gas mask whereas I had to have an adult one. We had a real fight over that - a real, physical, no holds barred fight because I wanted the Mickey Mouse gas mask! I didn't get it though - my brother kept it!
