In the war I made bags which were sent out to the troops. All the american troops were drilling in Knowle Park, and were stationed at Cleve House on the Wells road. They always had plenty of candy. My husband was on a destroyer for six years. Lord Haw Haw gave it out that his ship had been torpdoed, but he survived.
