My Father & Mother would wake me up during any large raids. My Father would tell me I was watching history in the making. I saw the bomibng of Chelmsford in 1943. The large raids on Germany and the gliders going over, which I presume were heading to Holland.
I remember watching Dog Fights overhead too along with DoodleBugs & Tanks going down the road. I also remember the British Resturant at the top of the road where I could get a dinner for 6 Chillings. I recall the bonfire too that was in the Pleasure Pit at Oxney Green at the end of the War.
