I went to Widden Street School in Gloucester. In 1944 I was 7 years old. My aunt lived nearby the school and worked the night shift at Rotol Ltd, where they made aircraft propellers.
After school, I would go to her house and wake her up ready for the night shift. On a couple of occasions I was unable to go to her house, she overslept, and didn’t go to work.
Getting her up was my contribution to the war effort.
