During the war I was in the Navy on HMS Artifex.
We used to repair works on some of the subs. There was a sub on trial for Liverpool called Foetus. It got stuck down and most of the crew died because they never brought it up quick enough. I worked on it in Blythe. It was renamed The Thunderbolt.
It was lost later on. Terrible.
