This story was submitted to the People’s War site by Claire White of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Scotland on behalf of Stephen Hull and has been added to the site with his permission. The author fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

My father served in the navy during the war and was involved in a gun-running trip to the Yugoslav Partisans in 1944. My father's comrades travelled from Italy to Yugoslavia to take to take guns and ammunitions from the British government to the Yugoslav rebels.

When they arrived they found there were no Germans nearby so they had a huge party and he had no recollection of returning to base in Italy!

This was the only war story my father ever told us.
