I was in the Far East during the war. I was an electrician in the RAF, with the ground crews. I remember the ARP leaflets being dropped about bombing. I was involved in dropping supplies in Burma, we did it as volunteers as the regulars couldn’t cope with the demand. I joined up in 1940 until 1945 and I was on the front in Burma for 2 years. One pilot I flew with was Flight Sergeant Lord (aka Lumley)

(This story was collected at the Severn Valley Railway 1940s weekend and submitted to the People's War site by a volunteer from Wyre Forest Volunteer Bureau on behalf of Ken Needle and has been added to this site with his permission. Mr Needle fully understands the site's terms and conditions.)
