I was just thirteen years of age the war was in its early stages 1939-1940, I awoke one morning and noticed a long hole about 4 inches by 1 inch in the corner of my bedroom ceiling, I stood up on my bed poked my hand through the narrow gap and found a long jagged piece of shrapnel, which had made the hole but remained above inside.
strangely although we made no repairs to the roof I cannot recall us getting any rain through, a mystery indeed.
Ted Dann.
