Born Just Within Peacetime!

Of course, naturally, I do not remember the War! I was still safely growing inside my Mother's womb in those final turbulent months before peace was declared........

My Mother was celebrating on VE Day - like so many others - when I decided, a few weeks early, to arrive. I was nearly born backstage at a theatre in Aldershot - in early childhood my dreams were always about cardboard cut-out trees (obviously stage scenery!) But - my Mother was rushed home to Steventon and I arrived at 7 am the following morning!

How many other people in the UK were actually born on the 9th and can be included among the first 'peace' babies I wonder? It would be really interesting to know...........
