I remember putting our clothes on back to front and being very scared before we rushed to the shelter in the garden. A coke fire was lit during the day to keep the shelter dry.

I saw a German aeroplane coming over our house, the pilot was dead.

At Lyng, near Norwich, 2 miles from Weston Longville, Glen Miller played in the hanger on the airfield.

Nick Green, as a young boy, used to clean all the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Guards' guns and his grandfather's. He was paid a shilling for each gun.
