My Nan was only 7 years old when the war was started. She lived in Hemel and was evacuated all the way to.........Luton. She says that she was very scared at the time and she doesn't remember it too well. The main part she remembers is the rationing of food. She was taken to the country and lived with a family of three. Only one child, a girl. She cannot remember her name. She says that the food was very bad and you could not get as much as you would have wanted. She also said about the blackouts. And she would wake up in the middle of some nights as the noise of he terrible planes would scare her.
She cannot remember much else but the things she does remember she knows very well.
I am interested in the war as all of my grandparents were involved and this is being written due to an English piece of work being set to me.
