Whilst on guard at the signals camp in Cyprus, having a crafty little cigarette, inside my helmet which was over my face, I suddenly froze.

Now, not meant to be having a crafty smoke, it took me by surprise to have something rubbing against my legs. Frozen with fear, I turned round slowly...What should be behind me, not a prowler but a dog!
