Violet Harris, nee Critchley, remembers joining the WJAC, which she did after leaving school. Meetings were held at Plant Hill School, Higher Blackley, and Violet stayed with the Corps until she was old enough to become a WAAF. After her initial training at Wilmslow, Violet was posted to Melksham to be trained as a cinema projectionist and later worked in Costal Command. After the war, she joined the Volunteer Reserve, training at Bowlee Camp during the year, and attending a summer camp at St, Eval.
