During the war lived at Wolstanton near Newcastle. My father was an air raid warden and took his job very seriously.
I remember one night the sirens going off.
We all dived under the table and as we did we heard an enormous thud coming from upstairs.
My brother had been been so startled by the siren he had literally fallen straight out of bed!
