In 1944 I was 8 years old and the war was a fun game. The influx of the american army was camped near Leigh in Devon. As kids we were lucky enough to hop on a tank, a duck and an army jeep. We had our first taste of Wrigleys Chewing Gum- it was lovely, the americans were always handing it out. They also had fruit and chocalate and gave the girls nylons.
