Jim was among 34 small assault boats, 544/56 Assault Unit Royal Maines. At one thousands yards from the beach, only two craft remained. His good buddy Hookey Walker was in the first boat, when it hit the mines and was blown up. He turned a gave thumbs up, and never dropped his arm as he landed on one of the mines. Jim fell where the mines had been detonated meaning that he lived. This was with the Le Regiment De La Chaudieres, the bravest of the brave.
