This story was added to the website by Lucy Glynn, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leeds volunteer on behalf of the contributor with their permission.

I was evacuated to Lincolnshire with my sister and then I went home and I was evacuated again to Pateley Bridge.
I remember I tried to run away. I hid in some grass. A teacher came up to me and got me up. This place I was at was a school. They had a big field. I remember hiding in the field.
I came home and my father went to live in Quarry Hill Flats. I went to live with him. He was in Malta for four years. He used to carry the dead bodies.
