Before I joined the Censorship Board I used to work in canteen work. The canteen was in Elmwood Avenue Church and we lived in Deramore Drive, Belfast and I used to walk to and fro work, it was about a couple of miles. One night when I was coming home, it was pitch dark, there were no lights and I could hear footsteps behind me, all the way up the Malone Road to my home. I was terrified. I didn’t dare turn round. When I got to Deramore Drive I braved the situation turning around and said, “What are you doing following me?” The man, who was a Military Policeman said he was just seeing that I got home safely.
