I remember the blackout during the war. I remmebr all of the younger members of the family making Christmas decorations, the thin bits of card stuck together with paste. We always had a Christmas tree that was placed in a bucket which in turn was covered in Crepe paper.
We had a Morrison shelter in the front room. The house opposite us was bombed.
I joined the Army Cadet band and played the drums because I couldn't blow the trumpet properly.
