Like a previos contributor, I visited Winnipeg en route to Rivers Air Force Navigators Training Depot, and well remember the wondeful greeting we were given at Winnipeg station, with Bands playing and ladies dressed in their best, handing us all kinds of goodies which we hadn't tasted for years. We were also asked to complete a form about our personal details, which would be used to find us a suitable family with whom we could stay on our regular fortnightly visits back to Winnipeg from our distant Air Force Base.
The final question was of our Interests/Hobbies.
My friend and I jokingly wrote in 'WINE,WOMEN, and SONG'.
On our first visit we were met by the Medforth family. Mr. Medforth was a Director of Brewery/Winery, nd he had a record collection of 78s which filled shelves on three sides of a room, and finally there were three teenage daughters. They were all wonderfully kind to us and though I communicated after our return to UK, we eventually lost touch, sad to say. But Happy Memories once again.
