I'm 91 now and don't remember the war very well. I lived in a very isolated place called Langlee Ford Hope, and we hardly noticed the war! We were almost self-sufficient, we had pigs and crops and vegetables, so we had plenty to eat. I was married to a shepherd and had young children so that's what was important to me.
I remember a German plane crashing into the side of the Cheviot, the largest mountain in the Cheviot range in Northumberland.
Perhaps it was lost, although there were a lot of crashes in the Cheviots. There was one in College Valley, one of our planes, and the farmers went up and rescued some of the crew. Recently a memorial has been put up in College Valley to all the men who died in these plane crashes.
