THE FUTURE

What does the future hold? There’s none can say
Some will find happiness, days bright and gay
For others, naught but misery and tears
And suffering throughout eternal years.

Perhaps ‘tis well we cannot see ahead
And can’t discern the path we have to tread
Perhaps if we could see what lies before
We’d dread the future outlook even more.

All we can do is trust in God and pray
Pray that eternal peace may come some day
Man, if he’d only carry out God’s will,
Could cleanse the world, and vanquish every ill.
