This is my story of my Nans first Husband.
He got signed up for the BEF and had to go in 3 days time so like most people then they got married as soon as they could so the next day they got married. A few days later he had to go to war! So he left going for Salonika in Greece. He arrived there and was transported to Masidonia where he was to fight.
he settled down and went to sleep. The next day he woke up and had to attack the Masidonian Trenches he survived the attack but had to retreat. A few weeks later he cought maleria in the trenches and was transported with hundreds of others to Salonika, to be treated in a hospital there. A week later my nan got a telligram that he had been a victim of the war and had died peacefully from Maleria.
He is now burried in Salonika and have visited his grave there once and gave me a cheerfull side as i laid his flowers and inspected his gravestone.
And that is the last time my nan every saw her first husband.
