My first memory is of watching the Battle of Britain in 1940. I also remember D Day well as our next door neighbour was killed. I has acute appendicitis and wasn't very co- operative about going to hospital again as I had had my tonsils out a fortnight previously. War time conditions near London were worrying. But the doctor said to me 'you will get better, but my only son has just been killed in the landings'
Ruth , aged 67 years, heard about the web site from Frank, who lives next door to her mother in a nursing home . It was writtten up on the web site by Frank's daughter, Kim
