My Memories of the war are; I was 9 years old and my sister who was 2 ½ years older, used to go and wait at the butchers shop for our ration of meat, go from them to the grocers for our rations and again it was a long queue.

Our close had iron supports all along the walls and a black kind of curtain that came down the front so we couldn’t see out, but we could still hear all the noise of the planes. We stayed in the Gorbals which was near a place called Dixons Blazes, a large steel works.
