I graduated as a registered nurse in Canada in 1944 and went with several of my nursing friends to Christie St. Veterans' Hospital. I worked on the plastic surgery ward and also provided relief one day on the paraplegic ward - experiences which I will never forget. I lost many friends, including my special boyfriend. My brother was in the Canadian airforce but was kept in Canada to instruct pilots, so thankfully I didn't lose him.
