The article was collated and written by a pupil at Mortimer Wilson School, Alfreton as part of a Peoples war Project."
My war memory is when we were at school. We would be half way through a lesson, then the sirens would go off and we had to go to the shelter. The shelters were basic with benches to sit on. I can remember ration books for clothes and sweets. The iron railings on our front wall were sawn off, they were all collected to be used during the war.
