I was living in Clarendon, Jamaica during the Second World War. Zeppelin planes used to fly overhead. The war was an experience to me - living through it!
I remember that my mum would make lamps by dipping cotton in coconut oil then placing it in a tin.
Food: We couldn't get beef to eat in Jamaica because we had to send the cows to England for the soldiers. Also, butchers would serve on a first come first served basis. However, my mum always had plenty of chickens so during the war we had enought to eat.
