My mother was an ambulance driver during the war, when she was only a twenty-something. One day she was sent on what promised to be a very distressing mission as a large number of arms and legs had been sighted in a field.

Full of trepidation the crew set out to find, I suspect to their relief, that the arms and limbs belonged to discarded tailors' dummies.
