During the war I worked in the War office for Winston Churchill. I was
recruited because I was fluent in French and German, so I would translate
incoming documents into English. I tried not to pay much attention to the
content of the document, only the language; that way I would be sure not to pass on sensitive information.
The offices were not grand - pretty basic, really. Mr Churchill was a very
nice and fair man; he was very angry when I was sent elsewhere to work.
