My dad grew vegetables and kept chickens in our 1O0ft long garden. He also gave over half our brieze block built garage to be the on duty place for the Air Raid Wardens. You always knew whose turn it was because wooden signs were hung over front gates.
When I was 10 yrs old, I had to go to a community activity to learn how to use the stirrup pumps.
