Near to Lincoln a Lancaster bomber took off from Scampton adn crashed just four miles after take off. It was loaded with bombs and the lot went up. At Bransby Rest ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ for Horses there is a plaque commemorating this instance.
Another crash I remember clearly is a bomber plane crashing into the gravel pits on Lincoln Road, Saxilby. It was another case of our boys not quite getting back to their airfield.
