I left work after the two till ten shift, walking home along the riverside when I heard the sound of an aircraft. Suddenly the
anti-aircraft searchlights came on all over the sky, searching
for the bomber. One of the lights got the bomber in its sights,
very quickly the rest of the searchlights caught up with the
bomber. Then the whole sky lit up as the anti-aircraft guns
opened fire and very soon shot the bomber down. Although
I was very scared, it was very exciting, except for the bomber
crew of course.

One night whilst on fire watch the bombers came over dropping
their bombs quite close. When it was over, a mum and dad had
been killed but their two young children were still safe in bed.
