This story was submitted to the People’s War website by a volunteer from Lincoln CSV Action Desk on behalf of Albert Wells and has been added to the site with his permission. Mr Wells fully understands the site’s terms and conditions.

My twin brother and I were outside playing in the grass field when this Mosquito (I knew it by the shape) came over the house. It was spiralling and twisting down making a droning noise. I remember it distinctly. It crashed near the 40 foot drain and it’s still in the ground. I didn’t see the plane but the place is difficult to access now. It was too far for us to go then but my Uncle Ray went to see it. I think the pilot is still with his plane. My brother and I were only speaking about it recently because we heard of another Mosquito crash on the news and the pilot had been given a proper funeral.
