We didn't have many sweets as they were rationed but we were lucky because we didn't get bombed like some children. We used to play in the woods a lot.
I went to stay at a place called the "Fairy Dell" in Cottingley. I stayed with an English Master amd he was very strict on how I spoke.
My brother and school fiends were also evacuated.
I was 9 when the war started and 15 when it finished - I was glad it finished as my dad was coming home.
