Everything was on rations. We never saw a banana for years. We only got about 2 oz of butter per week and cheese too and only 2 eggs. It was amazing how we managed. I couldn’t buy clothes, we’d make underwear out of parachute material. We managed though, we never went really hungry our parents made all sorts.
