I have given some thought as to this. I write as a regular reader and occasional “helper” on this site and will miss it when it closes to new contributions in the near future. As a social document it is second to none as all the stories posted belong to real people and their place and efforts in history and thank you to all who contributed. I am of the post-war generation. My Dad served in the UK and in Northern Europe from 1940-1946 and I am thankful that I, or my children, have not had to endure what his generation did.

One of the big reasons for the success of this site has been the contribution of several “regulars” who were there and have always gone that extra mile to get the truth to the surface, to guide those starting out on family history or other research, and get across the reality of those wartime years and to point out, sometimes with a gentle rebuke, that France and Germany were not the only theatres of operation.

To John, Frank, Sandy, Harry with his passion for accuracy, Peter for sharing the detail from his amazing library and many more a big thank you. Personally I cannot let this opportunity pass without special thanks to Ron for his fantastic guided history through Africa and Italy and for Trooper Tom for his ever fascinating tales and views from a D-Day dodger’s viewpoint. Gentlemen, thank you all for what you did then and for helping enlighten this current generation.
