I was born in 1924 and spent most of my life in Watton, Norfolk. After leaving school, I worked in the office of an agricultural firm and then in a lawyer’s office. I was called up in 1940 and joined the Army Medical Corp.
I went to Aldershot for training. Afterwards, I went to Shaftesbury Hospital in Dorset, where they brought a lot of the injured. I enjoyed my time in the Army and met a group of decent chaps.
