My garandfather Mr Huntbach lived on Morley Road Mapperley also in the house was his daughter my Auntie Winnie who's husband was in the desert in North Africa. Her daughter Julie aged 14 was also in the house. On the night of the raid the house received a direct hit, and was destroyed but all three survived with just minor injuries. The house opposite was also destroyed and all the occupants killed. Grandad, Auntie Winnie and Julie moved to a house on Thorneywood Mount. Every evening grandad went by bus to the top of Porchester Road for a couple of pints at the Porchester Hotel. One evening he got off the bus which reversed and killed him on the spot. This is irony with avengence.
