W.J. THOMAS. SS RANGER

In 1939 HMS Thetis failed to rise from her 1st dive while on sea trials in Liverpool Bay. My father,W.J.Thomas worked on the salvage ship,ss Ranger & the raising of the ill-fated Thetis must have affected all those involved in this awful task. The bodies of many from the Thetis were buried in a communal grave at Maes Hyfryd cemetry in Holyhead.
I understand that my father was a crew member on the Ranger when it made an unenviable trip to S.America through hostile waters.
Picture is of my father,W.J.Thomas aboard the Ranger.
