I was a teenager during the war and do not remember any big things happening to me. I would watch the fighters overhead and I won a prize at school for collecting the most shrapnel. Dad was in the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Guard and I was given pocket money for polishing his buckles and badges. Mother and her friends were in Neighborhood Watch and I would go around with them. Our garden was covered by an air raid shelter so we had an allotment to grow our vegetables.
