A brother doing war work
My dad in ARP
My mother on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Front
And our evacuee.

Then Exeter was blitzed-
and thinking free from harm
We trudged the hill to safety-
to shelter in a farm.

But here we met a "Special"
Who said "You can't go on!
An unexploded bomb's up there!"
He didn't know my Mum!!

She told him " I am English
and that means that I am free.
So fetch a proper policeman
and HE can talk to me!

That Special was a nice man.
We kids thought it was fun.
I hope he's had a good life-
But he won't forget my mum!
